GRAMMY®-winning Christian music artist Mandisa Lynn Hundley (October 2, 1976 – April 18, 2024) known professionally as Mandisa, passed away at her home in Nashville, Tennessee on April 18.

From Mandisa’s Instagram account, “We can confirm that yesterday Mandisa was found in her home deceased. At this time we do not know the cause of death or any further details. We ask for your prayers for her family and close knit circle of friends during this incredibly difficult time. Mandisa was a voice of encouragement and truth to people facing life’s challenges all around the world.”

While her career began as a contestant on American Idol (5th season), the Lord had bigger plans for the talented singer, as she would go on to release #1 Christian Music songs and secure a GRAMMY Award for Best Contemporary Christian Music Album for Overcomer at the 56th Grammy Awards.

After finishing in the Top 10 on “Idol,” Mandisa released her debut album, “True Beauty,” in 2007. But it was her 2013 album, “Overcomer,” that catapulted the vocalist into the mainstream spotlight; earning Mandisa performances on “Good Morning America”, TBN, and other media outlets.

Mandisa Talks About how God Brought Her Out of the Dark

During this season, Mandisa rose to the top of the Christian Music format, releasing #1 hits like “Stronger,” “Good Morning (feat. TobyMac)” and “My Deliverer.”

Mandisa candidly went public with her overwhelming struggles with depression in her book, “Out of the Dark: My Journey Through the Shadows to Find God’s Joy.”

Please pray for Mandisa’s friends, family, and the Christian Music industry as a whole, as this has shocked and saddened many at the news of this loss.
